 Volunteering:

Nothing is more rewarding than helping a student to overcome fears, experience new opportunities and gain self-confidence. The first smile of pride on the student’s face is its own reward. What one might take for granted can be a major breakthrough for these students.

A successful therapeutic riding program requires a team effort. Most volunteer opportunities do not require special skills. Mile’s End provides the necessary training and guidance to make your volunteer experience safe and enjoyable.

We couldn't run our program without the help of volunteers. They are the backbone of our program. It is not necessary to be a horse expert to volunteer. We are happy to train anyone who would like to participate. We need horse leaders, side walkers and office help.

Here are just some of the volunteer positions:

  • Program leaders: leaders are needed to lead the horse and side walkers are need to aid the rider with balance and following the lesson.

  • Barn volunteers: for people who want more contact with the horses help in the barn is always appreciated

  • Office Worker: help is needed with mailings, coordinating volunteers and things we haven't even thought of yet

  • Fund Raiser: not-for-profits can't exist without the help of the community

  • Maintenance: a farm is always in need of continued maintenance
